Tools for the monitoring, reporting, and verification of NAMAs in rice
The RiceMoRe system is designed to enhance the monitoring and planning of rice production across both central and local agricultural offices. It facilitates the systematic collection and reporting of rice cultivation data on a weekly, seasonal, and annual basis.
Applicable for: GHG mitigation projects, and evaluation of GHG field experiments
FarMoRe is a mobile application collaboratively developed with farmers and agricultural extensionists, grounded in the principles of agroecology and inclusive digital innovation. It is designed to assess farmer performance and monitor their transition toward more agroecological practices. Additionally, FarMoRe empowers informed decision-making by both farmers and policymakers, while supporting product traceability and certification.
Applicable for: Product certification, Carbon projects, GHG mitigation projects
The Source-selective and Emission-adjusted GHG CalculaTOR for Cropland (SECTOR) is a greenhouse gas (GHG) calculator tailored for cropland, built upon the IPCC Tier 2 methodology. Available in both Excel and web-based formats, SECTOR requires user inputs such as cropping area, yield, and management practices. It was developed in response to growing interest in mitigation studies for cropland emissions, with particular emphasis on rice production.
Applicable for: GHG inventories in rice, GHG mitigation projects, and evaluation of GHG field experiments
CF-Rice, a carbon footprint calculator for rice products, is designed to streamline information exchange on the carbon footprints of rice across research institutions, policymakers, the food industry, and consumers.
Applicable for: GHG inventories in rice, GHG mitigation projects, and evaluation of GHG field experiments
DISPLAY (Digital Information System for Rice Product Labeling of Carbon-Footprints based on Yield Recovery) is a newly developed tool that offers a user-friendly approach to estimating the carbon footprint of rice products across the entire value chain. Designed with flexibility in mind, it allows for customized user inputs to enhance accuracy and adaptability.
Applicable for: GHG inventories in rice, GHG mitigation projects, and evaluation of GHG field experiments
MapAWD is a Microsoft® Excel-based tool developed to assess the bio-physical suitability of the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) water-saving technique. It employs a spatially explicit water balance model to identify climatically favorable areas for implementing AWD.
Applicable for: GHG mitigation projects, and evaluation of GHG field experiments
COMPARE (Cost-Impact Analysis for Emission Reduction Projects) is a Microsoft® Excel-based tool jointly developed by UNIQUE Forestry and Land Use and the International Rice Research Institute. It features built-in formulas and functions that enable automated calculation of cost-benefit analysis indicators and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, based on user-defined inputs.
Applicable for: GHG mitigation projects
