The CCAC Agriculture Initiative aims to disseminate best practices for minimizing emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) from agriculture while also enhancing food security and livelihoods and meeting cross-sectoral climate change objectives. The Mitigation Options to Reduce Methane Emission in Paddy Rice—the paddy rice component, in short—is  part of the Agricultural Initiative.

Phase I of the program will be an 18-month planning phase intended to assemble existing information at national and regional levels to assess opportunities and barriers for large-scale implementation, and facilitate national decision makers to develop plans for national initiatives.
